My ever-thoughtful daughter invited a few of her friends over to her home to surprise me with a birthday party. Totally unexpected since my birthday was several weeks ago. However, these are her friends. Friends who in round-about ways, have become my friends. I'm not exactly sure why maybe with a grain of wisdom or a motherly hug their friendship surprisingly overflowed down to me. And out of these relationships came a new name - Mama Henry.
Today their Mama Henry watched as each young woman with her own distinctive personality spoke encouraging words to the one sitting beside them, sharing a few tears and a whole lot of laughter. They radiate in beauty as they express their desire to share God’s love and compassion for others. These are all capable, courageous women. Women just beginning to flourish in their unique gifting and calling.
And I realize they are representative of the women all over the world reaching out beyond their comfort zone to use their God-given talents to make the world we live in a better place.
I stand in awe of these fierce women warriors, particularly those who came to honor me today. Now the honor belongs to them. Let whatever they give out to others of their time, talent, calling, or friendship, be returned in full measure, pressed down, shaken together until it overflows.
I honor you. You daughters who reign in the beauty and strength of God’s presence.
You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.
