God ever so much desires us to ask of Him. Sitting in the corner of the sanctuary, as I begin to pray and petition the Lord for specific parts of the service, “Lord, do this; Father we need you to do that,” He gently tells me this is not one of those times. It is me who needs to do that something.
That something is surrender. Open wide my spirit in total abandon as I praise and worship Him. Surrender to His will; relinquish mine. Let go of all my questions and wandering thoughts. Surrender. When I surrender to Him, those things I was asking Him to do - will happen. Why? Not because I needed to ask. But it is because the very thing I am asking for is God’s automatic - no need to ask - response when I surrender to Him.
I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works.
